GREENFIELD
Sally Jo Hicks, 68, Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2021. Sally was born on June 11, 1952 in Springfield, IL to Gordon R. and Betty J. (Wolfe) Rhodes, Sr. She is a graduate of Lanphair High School, Springfield. She also attended Ivy Tech Community College earning an Associates Degree. She married her love Forrest Lee Hicks on September 3, 1977.
Sally worked at Kehin IPT for 20+ years in quality control. She had many interests, including fishing, camping, cooking, crafting, scrapbooking, canning, sewing, and flower gardening. She was a giver to others. Sally was the glue that held the family together. She loved being around her children, grandchildren, and inherited grandchildren. She was affectionately known as grandma to all.
She is survived by her loving husband, Forrest, of 43 years; children: Gorden (Shawn) Smith and Kara (Clint) Hackleman; 7 grandchildren: Ashley Smith, Courtney Forbeck, Samantha Harlow, Cameron Hackleman, Keely Smith, Savannah Harlow, and Jarred Harlow, Jr.; 4 great-grandchildren: Alora Forbeck, Rowan Snowden, Colton Forbeck, and one on-the-way, Vincent Harris; brothers: William Rhodes and Larry Rhodes; and many nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her mother, Betty J. West; father, Gordon R. Rhodes, Sr.; daughter, Jennifer Harlow; and siblings: Betty Hamblin, Janet Sexton, Paula Cook, and Gordon Rhodes, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Visitation will be held following the service from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield. All in attendance will be required to wear face masks.
