County adds 3 COVID-19 deaths

HANCOCK COUNTY — Three more county residents have died from COVID-19, the Indiana State Department of Health reported Tuesday.

One of the fatalities was age 80 or older, while the other two were in their 70s. Two were women and one was a man. The deaths occurred on Jan 2, 3 and 4. They raised Hancock County’s death toll from the novel coronavirus to 87.

Another 93 COVID-19 cases raised the county’s total to 5,514.

COVID-19 cases are also mounting at a Greenfield nursing home. Springhurst Health Campus reported Tuesday that 31 of its 104 residents and 21 of its 108 active employees were COVID-19 positive or presumed positive. The facility also reports a total of four COVID-19 related employee and resident deaths.

Indiana on Tuesday added 142 new COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 8,292. The state also added 3,477 new cases, raising its total to 533,083.
