GREENFIELD — The Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen will re-open today (Wednesday, Sept. 2) after closing for three days due to potential COVID-19 exposure. Jill Ebbert, director of the soup kitchen, said she has been informed by the Hancock County Health Department that volunteers and staff can resume safely serving meals.
The soup kitchen will resume the regular schedule it has adopted since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, serving carryout meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m.
The soup kitchen shut down beginning Friday, Aug. 28, in response to concerns about a volunteer’s husband who had been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Ebbert said neither the volunteer nor her husband has displayed symptoms.
