HANCOCK COUNTY — Three new deputies have joined the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department. Two have completed their training, while a third is working toward final certification.
Deputies Aaron Forshey and Barb Miers started as merit deputies in August. Previously, both were jail officers. Both have completed their field training and work at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and have been released from training to work on their own during the afternoon shift.
Deputy Robert “Robby” Durbin was also previously a jail officer for the department. He was hired as a merit deputy at the beginning of July. He is completing his field training and will attend the law enforcement academy sometime later this year or in early 2021, depending on COVID-19 restrictions.
