Town calls off Christmas tree lighting ceremony
McCORDSVILLE — The McCordsville Parks Board has canceled this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The town has put on the tree lighting annually since 2011. The event draws a crowd to Town Hall and officials don’t want anyone getting exposed to the virus as the result of a large gathering.
The planning stages are underway for a virtual tree lighting, in which residents will be able to participate by providing pictures on the town’s Facebook Page of their own decorations.
