HANCOCK COUNTY — Three COVID-19 fatalities have been added to Hancock County’s total since Friday, June 19.
According to the Indiana State Department of Health’s online COVID-19 dashboard, one was a man in his 70s who died on June 12. Another was a woman age 80 or older who died on June 18. The most recent was a woman 80 or older who died on June 20.
The fatalities raised the total of Hancock County residents known to have died from COVID-19 to 33.
The Hancock County Health Department could not be reached by press time Monday for an update on COVID-19 data for the county’s long-term care facilities, but an update provided on Friday reported upticks at two facilities. Traditions at Brookside in McCordsville reported four residents have tested positive for the disease, two of whom have died. That’s an increase of three cases and one death from data provided on June 15. A Traditions at Brookside representative able to comment on the matter could not be reached for comment Monday.
Andrew Clark, executive director of Greenfield Healthcare Center, said Monday that a total of 77 residents have tested positive for the disease since the pandemic began, an increase of one from the data the county health department released last Friday. The facility’s COVID-19 deaths remained at 19. Clark added nine residents are currently on the facility’s COVID-19 unit and all are expected to recover, which would make for a total of 58 recoveries. He also said 15 employees have tested positive for the disease since the beginning of the pandemic and two are currently recovering outside of work.
The state department of health reported Monday that 393 Hancock County residents are known to have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began, an addition of eight from the total reported on Friday. A total of 5,266 tests have been performed on county residents, the latest 66 of which occurring between May 27 and June 20.
Data for Indiana Friday stood at 42,633 cases, 2,363 deaths and 418,916 tests.
