Jessup, Spalding win tight commissioner races

HANCOCK COUNTY — The two county commissioner races in the GOP primary were the most closely contested elections on Tuesday.

Hancock County Commissioner John Jessup, seeking re-election to a second term in District 1, defeated Jeannine Gray, 4,169 votes to 4,025.

In District 3, the winner was Bill Spalding, who received 4,039 votes. That’s a margin of only 86 votes over his opponent, Matt Holland, who received 3,953. There was no incumbent in the District 3 race; Commissioner Brad Armstrong decided not to run again.
