County’s COVID-19 cases rise by 9

HANCOCK COUNTY — Recorded COVID-19 cases in Hancock County residents hit 160 Thursday, an increase of nine from the day before, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

It was the most recorded cases for the county in a 24-hour period since April 10, a day that also saw nine new cases.

No COVID-19 deaths have been recorded for Hancock County residents since April 19; that total remains at seven. A total of 1,181 county residents’ COVID-19 tests have been recorded as of Thursday, up more than 30 from the day before.

Indiana’s recorded cases jumped more than 600 Thursday, for a total of 13,039. The state updated its COVID-19 death toll to 706, an increase of 45 from the day before. It also recorded more than 2,500 tests for which results have been received, raising that total to 72,040.
