An article in the Wednesday, March 25, edition ("Funeral homes limit crowds," Page A1) contained outdated information. The story was completed before the state’s most recent stay-at-home order regarding essential businesses was released. A quote attributed to Dane Erlewein, owner of Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, contained outdated information on the permitted size of gatherings.
On Wednesday, his wife, B.J. Erlewein, said the funeral home has been keeping its practices up-to-date with the last state guidelines. "We are now limiting gatherings to no more than 10 people, are rotating our staff so that a minimal number are in the office at one time, and are using social distancing/technology to keep everyone well during arrangements, visitations, and funeral services," she said. "We’re also following the many other procedures that update on an almost daily basis as recommendations come in from the governor, Centers for Disease Control, National Funeral Directors Association and Indiana Funeral Directors Association."
