Donald Edward SchwierNEW PALESTINE
The Lord in his wisdom and in his time took home to glory, Donald E. Schwier, who died in the faith peacefully on the evening of Monday, September 30,2019. Donald was born on January 15,1923 in Marion County to Carl and Ruth (Lichtenberg) Schwier. Donald served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He married the love of his life Lavina Mae Schwier in 1948.
Donald and his family moved to New Palestine in 1951 from Indianapolis. He went on to work for Indiana Bell where he retired in 1982 as a switchman. Donald then helped his brother Byron on the farm. Donald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Mae Schwier, 4 sisters; Irene Wood, Ruth Ann Deskins, Maxine Curry and Judith Schwier and a brother Byron Schwier.
Donald is survived by his two daughters; Ginny Schwier, Brenda Mahana (Steve),a son Phillip Schwier (Linda),a sister Carole Hardin, a niece, Linda Faubion (Mike). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
A funeral service for Donald will be held on Sunday October 6,2019 at 4 p.m. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday, at Zion Lutheran Church. The family has requested Memorials be given to the Zion Lutheran Church.
