Fred S. Bennett, 73, passed away January 1, 2019. Fred was born January 20, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Clarence C. Bennett and Myrle (Roberts) Jacobs.
Fred was a graduate of Howe High School and attended IUPUI. Fred married Marilyn Balcom and was a machinist for the Indianapolis Star for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of New Palestine Masonic Lodge #404 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine. Fred was a former member of the Southside Harley Club, and was an amateur artist, specializing in woodworking and carving.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marilyn Bennett; and son, Shawn Bennett.
Fred’s sister, Mary Helen Jones; and stepfather, Al Jacobs, preceded him in death.
