William R. Jones, 88, of Fortville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, in Greenfield. He was born April 10, 1922, in Indianapolis.
He retired as an engineer from Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, after more than 30 years of service. Bill was a WWII Veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp. Bill was a member of the Fortville American Legion Post #391, where he twice served as the Post Commander, and participated in the Funeral Detail Color Guard. He was also a member of the F&AM Lodge, the Murat Shrine, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Armstrong of Wilkinson; and grandson, Jesse Battaglia, also of Wilkinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth J. “Bid” Jones in 2004.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. Funeral services will be held on at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, with Military Graveside Rites.
