Mr. Paul O. Oakes, age 89, of Robinson, Ill., died on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Ind., following a brief illness. He was born May 15, 1922 in Greenfield, Ind., the son of Albert C. and Effie P. (Andis) Oakes.
Survivors include son, David W. (Donna) Oakes of Greenfield, Ind.; daughters, Diana (Jack) Branam of Bloomington, Ind., Deana Peters of Greenfield, Ind., and Shelley (John) Hatfield of Robinson, Ill.; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister Helen (Floyd) Darling .
There will be a visitation on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. followed by a Twilight Funeral Service at 7 p.m., at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Ill. There will also be a visitation from12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, until Graveside services begin at 1 p.m. at the Glenn Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, Ind., with Rev. William Beachat officiating.
Mr. Oakes asked that any memorial contributions in his memory be made to any missionary fund of any church.
