The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

June 6

Potstickers

4348 S. 500 W., New Palestine

Violations found: C – some food on steam table is below 135 degrees, corrected; C – sanitizer needs to be at proper concentration, corrected; NC – some debris build-up on legs of tables, to be corrected by June 12; NC – need to provide thin-tipped food thermometer, to be corrected by June 12; NC – flooring covering is coming up in kitchen, to be corrected by July 1; NC – gaps under door in basement, to be corrected by June 12; C – need to have proof of food protection manager certification, to be corrected by June 12.

Costas Mexican and Greek Restaurant and Grill

Violations found: NC – need to provide test strips for sanitizer at dish machine, to be corrected by June 15; C – knives stored on magnetic strip that are considered clean have food debris, corrected; C – spray bottles with chemical need to be labeled with common name, corrected; C – dish machine is not dispensing sanitizer with correct concentration, corrected.

Violations found: Cooked chicken is below 135 degrees, corrected; C – spray bottles with chemical not labeled with common name, corrected; NC – need to provide thin-tipped food thermometer, to be corrected by June 13; NC – some debris build-up on floor under equipment, to be corrected by June 13; NC – some ice build-up on floor entry into walk-in freezer, to be corrected by June 13; NC – need to provide test strips for sanitizer at three-compartment sink, to be corrected by June 13; NC – ice scoop is being stored on ice machine surface that is not clean, corrected; C – knife that is considered clean has food debris, corrected.

Violations found: NC – some tiles in the dish area are coming up off floor and catching debris and grime, to be corrected by July 10; NC, R – grime and “fuzzies” building up behind turbo chef ovens, debris on wall and floor under sink, to be corrected by June 24.
