Sister city group accepting Japan trip applications

GREENFIELD – Travel to Kakuda, Japan in 2025 through Sister Cities of Greenfield.

The organization is accepting applications now through Dec. 31 for current eighth- through 11th grade students. The trip will take place in June of 2025; cost is $850 with limited scholarships available.

Participants will immerse themselves in the rich history of Japan, build friendships, and learn how to grow through cultural exchange.

Local artist to share work

GREENFIELD – Hear from artist Chris Sickels and see the unveiling of the newest addition of his art installation at the Hancock County Public Library next month.

Sickels is a Greenfield-based illustrator who publishes his work under the name Red Nose Studio. He’ll explain how he sculpts 3-D figures and elaborate scenes from clay, wood, wire, paper, paint and an eclectic collection of objects. Sickels will also unveil an addition to the library’s “Over, Under and Beyond” art installation.

P.A.W.S. to host online sale

GREENFIELD – A holiday auction benefiting animal rescues will be online in November.

Partners in Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.) is hosting an online auction featuring gift cards, home decorations, fashion, pet toys and more. The sale is Nov. 1-15 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at pawshancock.org.

G-CHS students to perform Shakespeare play

GREENFIELD — “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare will be performed by Greenfield-Central High School students this weekend.

It will be the final theatrical show in the old auditorium of the high school, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1; 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and can be purchased at gcmusic.ludus.com.

Bingo event to assist MV Education Foundation

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is hosting a Bourbon, Bags & Bingo event to raise money for its mission to enhance the educational experience for MV students.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Nov.7, with Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. at The Barn at SilverStone Farm, 6508 W. 100N., Greenfield.
