High school clubs hosting Halloween events

GREENFIELD – Two local high schools will host Halloween events for local children and to raise money for charity.

Trick or Treat for Riley is 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. The free event is hosted by the student council, but members will be collecting free-will donations at the door for Riley Hospital for Children. Costumed students in sixth grade and younger are welcome; all children must be accompanied by an adult. The event will include candy, games, face painted, haunted houses and more.

Trick or treat Oct. 31 at Eastern Hancock High School between 5:30-7:30 p.m. The school’s National Honor Society is hosting an event with “costumes, spooky treats and eerie fun.” Admission is an optional cash donation or a canned food item. Enter through the athletic doors (Door 1) at the school, 10370 E. 250N., Charlottesville.

Working women nominations open

GREENFIELD – An outstanding working women of Hancock County will be honored in November, and nominations are open now.

The Hancock County Business and Professional Women’s Club is preparing to celebrate Indiana Federation of Business and Professional Working Women’s Month in November by honoring an outstanding working woman from Hancock County.

The qualities that a working woman nominee must exhibit should include passion, generosity, commitment, optimism and/or supportiveness.

A written nomination should be submitted by Oct. 28 to Carole Stevens, [email protected]. The nomination should include the name of the woman being nominated, contact information and the reason for nomination.

Chamber to host veterans lunch

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Chamber of Commerce will honor local veterans in November.

Invite a Veteran to Lunch is an annual tradition, set for noon Nov. 5 at the Community Foundation of Hancock County’s Thrive Center, 971 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield. Love Inc. to benefit from brass concert

GREENFIELD – An evening of music featuring the Indianapolis Brass Choir will benefit a local organization.

The event is from 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Trinity Park Church, 207 W. Park Ave., Greenfield. A good will offering will be taken benefiting Love In the Name of Christ of Greater Hancock County (Love Inc.).

Event for disability community Nov.2

INDIANAPOLIS — The Fall Inspiring Abilities Expo is coming up Nov. 2, offering families and professionals an opportunity to network with organizations and service providers who meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities.

The event is hosted by Families United for Support and Encouragement, a Hancock County group. Speakers are from 9-10 a.m., and the exhibit hall is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Perry Meridian High School, 401 W. Meridian School Road, Indianapolis. Register at fuseinc.org.

Libertarian Party to host candidate event

NEW PALESTINE – The Libertarian Party of Hancock County will have a meet-and-greet event with candidates at 1 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 27

The event is at El Toro Bravo, 7242 U.S. 52, New Palestine and will feature free appetizers to all guests.

Cops-4-Kids needs local donations

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Police Department is currently accepting donations for its annual Cops-4-Kids event.

The program provides breakfast for local children and a shopping trip. The goal is to spend $350 on each of the 40 children to help kids get clothing and toys they may not otherwise receive at Christmastime. It’s also a way for officers to positively interact with children of Greenfield. The program is funded solely by donations.

Donations are accepted now through Dec. 11. Checks may be made payable to Cops-4-Kids and mailed to the Greenfield Police Department at 116 S. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
