GREENFIELD

Erin Robertson McCardle, 41, left us suddenly, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, to take her rightful place in Heaven.

Erin was born on June 8, 1983, to Andrew and Susan Robertson, in Greenfield, IN, where she resided the majority of her life. She was a 2001 graduate of Greenfield Central High School.

In 2009, the light of her life, daughter Hope, became her entire world. Erin’s perseverance to overcome her life struggles led her to Ivy Tech Community College, where she graduated with an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Development. As a testament to her giving nature, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ball State University in 2017. She began working in Indianapolis at the Center for At-Risk Elders, known quite perfectly as CARE. This allowed her warm heart and compassionate soul to shine as a client advocate for over 140 clients, helping those in need that were unable to help themselves. Erin gave them the love and respect they deserved and likely saved numerous lives through her care. She also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) where she advocated for children’s best interests.

As fate would have it, Erin reunited with her high school boyfriend and love of her life, Christopher McCardle, in 2016. They were married in 2023, officially adding Bailey and Eden, to complete her family.

She leaves behind her loving family: husband, Chris; children, Hope, Bailey, Eden and Briana; mother and father, Susan and Andrew Robertson; siblings, Ryan (Cheryl) and Sam (Cheyenne); nephews and nieces, Cooper and Colton, Rylee, Mila, and Josie; an abundant extended family; and an incalculable number of friends. She also leaves behind her fur- babies, huskies Tango and Luna, whom she loved fiercely.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Richard and Doris Robertson, Clarence and Pauline Strubbe, and John Nesvarba.

Erin lived a life of kindness, empathy, and love, which she gave freely without any expectation. We will greatly grieve the loss of Erin, but we ask you to join us in doing as she would want…celebrating her life! Carry the generosity and compassion that she epitomized into the world as you live your lives. Continue her legacy and live your life with kindness in your heart.

Erin lived life guided by her faith. She will forever be remembered as an altruistic woman, who thoroughly believed in the beauty of the human heart. She was beautiful, complicated, vivacious, and outspoken. She was one of the best of us. We will have her in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will take place following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
