GREENFIELD — Today is the day.

Greenfield-Central senior boys basketball standout Braylon Mullins will announce his college choice at 6 p.m. today in the high school’s main gymnasium.

The announcement is open to the public.

Considered a top candidate for Indiana Mr. Basketball and McDonald’s All-American, Mullins is one of the nation’s most sought-after uncommitted high school basketball players.

Recruited and offered scholarships by some of the most successful college programs in the nation, Mullins cut his long list of suitors to three — Connecticut, Indiana and North Carolina, last month.

The 6-foot, 5-inch guard is a five-star recruit and considered among the top 20 seniors in the country on numerous recruiting websites.

Prior to knocking his list down to the final three, Mullins had cut his list to 10. Many of those schools are considered among the bluebloods of college basketball, including Purdue, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Alabama and Tennessee.

He also had offers throughout the recruiting process from Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State, Arkansas, Iowa, Virginia Tech among others.

Along with announcing his college choice tonight, he is expected to sign his national letter-of-intent during the early signing period between Nov. 13-20.

Shortly after the signing period, the highly-anticipated high school season begins.

As a junior, Mullins helped lead the Cougars to a 24-1 season, averaging 25 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 steals. He shot 56 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

The Mullins-led Cougars have been selected to play in three shootouts/tournaments during the 2024 portion of the schedule.

After the season and home opener on Nov. 26 against Beech Grove — the annual opener for the Matt English Trophy — the Cougars play Ben Davis on Dec. 7 in Brownsburg as one of the games in the Sneakers For Santa Shootout. On Dec. 14, G-C plays at Southport Fieldhouse against Lawrence North in the Forum Tip-Off Classic. And, on Dec. 28 they will play in the Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle Fieldhouse against Jeffersonville and either Warsaw or defending state champion Fishers in the championship or consolation game.

Sandwiched in between the classics and tournament games is a battle against rival New Palestine, at home, on Dec. 13.
