INDIANAPOLIS — The Fall Inspiring Abilities Expo is coming up Nov. 2, offering families and professionals an opportunity to network with organizations and service providers who meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities.

The event is hosted by Families United for Support and Encouragement, a Hancock County group. Speakers are from 9-10 a.m., and the exhibit hall is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Perry Meridian High School, 401 W. Meridian School Road, Indianapolis. Register at fuseinc.org.

Downtown Greenfield to host festive events

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street will host Halloween-themed events soon.

Boos and Brews is this Saturday, Oct. 26, featuring costume contests, live music and food and drink specials. For $15, get a lanyard and enjoy food and drink specials from 4-10 p.m. Come back with at least three hole punches on the lanyard for a special prize.

A party will be from 8-10 p.m. on North Street for ages 21 and older, featuring live music by The Flying Toasters. A costume contest for best male, female, couple and group win downtown Greenfield gift certificates.

While Boos and Brews is for adults only, GMSI hasn’t forgotten the kids. Tricks on Main will be the night before on Friday, Oct. 25, with family-friendly booths at merchants along Main Street from 5-7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 will be a family-friendly Halloween movie (“Frankenweenie”) at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

Family programs available at local libraries

GREENFIELD – Children and teens are invited to free programs at local libraries this November.

Pet Election Day is Nov. 4 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield. Drop in to vote for America’s favorite pet and get an “I voted” sticker. The Greenfield library is also hosting a recycling program Nov. 4; a chess club every Monday; a tween/teen Super Smash Brothers tournament Nov. 18; and story times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

In New Palestine, story times are on Wednesdays; Rhythm & Hues is Nov. 14; Little Crafters is Nov. 13; and teens can enjoy an impromptu program Thursdays. The Sugar Creek branch of the HCPL is located at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. Register at hcplibrary.org.

Bentley’s Buddies and Friends, reading therapy dogs, will be at the library in Fortville Nov. 16; and at the Greenfield and New Palestine libraries Nov. 17.

Character breakfast coming to GCHS

GREENFIELD – The community is invited to Breakfast Buddies, an opportunity to eat breakfast and meet superheroes and princesses.

The event is hosted by Cougar Cubs Preschool and the Family Career and Community Teachers of America. It’s from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Greenfield-Central High School cafeteria, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Cost is $25 per person, with a limit of four people per family. Breakfast includes pancakes with toppings, sausage links, apple juice and a choice of a Danish or muffin. Each child will receive an autograph book and characters will walk around and sign the book and take pictures. Children attending are also encouraged to dress up.

Local kids to portray “The True Story of Hey Diddle Diddle”

GREENFIELD – Tickets are available now for the KidsPlay Inc. production of “The True Story of Hey Diddle Diddle.”

The family-friendly production features 26 young actors in a full-length comedy. It portrays seven imaginative stories telling what might be the story behind the nursery rhyme, like why a cow could leap over the moon or why the dish ran away with the spoon.

Show dates are 7 p.m. Nov. 15, 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. Presale tickets online are $6 at crazylakeacting.com.
