Ind. 9 near Eden will be closed beginning on Monday for the installation of a box culvert, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

A box culvert is a four-sided structure designed to improve drainage underneath a road or bridge. INDOT Public Relations Director Kyleigh Cramer said that the pipe previously in place had failed, necessitating this repair.

The road will be closing in both directions between CR 700N and Ind. 234. The official detour for the work is Ind. 234 to Ind. 109 to I-70 to Ind. 9.

Road work is expected to last through mid-November, weather permitting, the press release said.

Drivers can stay up-to-date with construction and road closures through INDOT’s Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) pages or through 511in.org or the INDOT Trafficwise mobile app on iOS or Android.
