Downtown Greenfield to host festive events

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Main Street will host Halloween-themed events soon.

Boos and Brews is Oct. 26, featuring costume contests, live music and food and drink specials. For $15, get a lanyard and enjoy food and drink specials from 4-10 p.m. Come back with at least three hole punches on the lanyard for a special prize.

A party will be from 8-10 p.m. on North Street for ages 21 and older, featuring live music by The Flying Toasters. A costume contest for best male, female, couple and group win downtown Greenfield gift certificates.

While Boos and Brews is for adults only, GMSI hasn’t forgotten the kids. Tricks on Main will be the night before on Oct. 25, with family-friendly booths at merchants along Main Street from 5-7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 will be a family-friendly Halloween movie (“Frankenweenie”) at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts.

MPD open house Oct. 21

MCCORDSVILLE – Tour the new McCordsville Police Department headquarters in a community open house coming up.

The event is 4-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at 7520 Civic Drive, McCordsville. The event is an opportunity to see the inside of the building prior to opening.

Rotary food drive coming up

GREENFIELD – The Rotary Club of Greenfield is hosting its annual Fill A Truck Fill A Pantry drive.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Walmart in Greenfield, on the north end of the parking lot.

Items needed include non-perishable foods, canned foods, dry cereals and baby food. Donation recipients are Shirley Wilkinson United Methodist Church, Fortville Area Rescue Mission, Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Hancock County Food Pantry, Cross of Grace, and Brandywine Community Church. Monetary donations are also accepted, and recognition will be given for those who make a $100 (bronze), $250 (silver) or $500 (gold) donation.

Working women nominations open

GREENFIELD – An outstanding working woman of Hancock County will be honored in November, and nominations are open now.

The Hancock County Business and Professional Women’s Club is preparing to celebrate Indiana Federation of Business and Professional Working Women’s Month in November by honoring an outstanding working woman from Hancock County.

The qualities that a working woman nominee must exhibit should include passion, generosity, commitment, optimism and/or supportiveness.

A written nomination should be submitted by Oct. 28 to Carole Stevens, [email protected]. The nomination should include the name of the woman being nominated, contact information and the reason for nomination.
