James Lovell Jordan, age 92, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 peacefully at his home. He was born in Flemingsburg, Kentucky on November 4, 1931 to Robert W. and Bessie Margret (Glass) Jordan. He graduated from Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, Indiana in 1950.

He worked for Ed Martin in Indianapolis, Indiana as a mechanic for sixteen years before starting his own repair shop in Greenfield, Indiana, which he proudly and successfully operated for forty-three years, until his retirement. James was a devoted member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a long-time member of the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and found peace in gardening and fishing. Car racing was a passion of his and he liked to go to the track and watch the races. James also loved basketball and baseball. He especially loved cheering on the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his partner, Sharon Wildman; children, Sandy (Ralph) Dalzell, Jim Jordan, Jerry Jordan, and Susan (Ron) Price; thirteen grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Jordan and Margret Wilmore; several nieces and nephews; and David and Kim Wildman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Bessie Margret Jordan; son, Jay Jordan; and brother, Charles Jordan.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Janna Meyers will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s UCC Cemetery in Cumberland, Indiana.
