GREENFIELD – A global climate technologies company has announced 75 employees will be laid off from its Greenfield site in January as the company plans to close its local distribution facility.

Copeland – formerly known as Emerson Climate Technologies – posted the layoffs last week through a Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification (WARN) as mandated by the state.

Jenna Petroff, Copeland’s director of global external communications, shared via email Tuesday that impacted employees received advance notice and will be provided severance, healthcare continuation subsidies and other support through the transition.

“This difficult decision is in no way a reflection on the quality of the employees who have served our customers and the company well over the years. This is a business decision based on Copeland’s review of operations to maintain competitiveness and provide the best possible service to our customers,” she shared.

Petroff said operations at the Greenfield production facility, at 6579 W. CR 350N, will be consolidated into other facilities in North America.

The local layoffs are expected to occur Jan. 13 , according to the company’s WARN notice, which was submitted Oct. 10 to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
