Libraries to host book clubs, events

GREENFIELD – Book clubs and events are coming up for adults at local libraries in Hancock County.

The Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield will host a Bown Bag Book Club Oct. 8 on “The Frozen River;” and Writers Helping Writers Oct. 17. An Adult Crafternoon Club is Oct. 15: paint pumpkins or bring your own project to work on. Learn more and register for events at hcplibrary.org.

At the Vernon Township Public Library in Fortville, the Tuesday Morning Club continues for seniors each week. An adult Horror Book Club will be Oct. 16 at Scarlet Lane Brewing Company, 7724 Depot St., McCordsville. Cumberland Trail & Treat Oct. 19

CUMBERLAND – The Cumberland Police Department invites the community to Cumberland Trail & Treat.

The event is 3-5 p.m. Oct. 19 on the Buck Creek Trail, 301 N. Buck Creek Road, Indianapolis. The all-ages event also welcomes dogs. Come dressed in a costume for Halloween fun.

Love Inc. to benefit from brass concert

GREENFIELD – An evening of music featuring the Indianapolis Brass Choir will benefit a local organization.

The event is from 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Trinity Park Church, 207 W. Park Ave., Greenfield. A good will offering will be taken benefiting Love In the Name of Christ of Greater Hancock County (Love Inc.).

Painting event to raise money for animal group

GREENFIELD – Paint your pet in a fundraiser event for Partners for Animal Welfare Society.

P.A.W.S. is hosting Paint Your Pet from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Wooden Bear Brewing Co., 21 W. North St., Greenfield. Cost is $45 and includes a pre-sketched canvas with your pet. Advanced tickets are required at pawshancock.org. Seating is limited so early reservation is requested.

Book donations accepted at HCPL

GREENFIELD — Clean out your shelves and get a tax break for helping the Hancock County Public Library. Drop off your gently used books, DVDs, CDs, and video games between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at the HCPL Bookmobile garage (north side) in Greenfield. A volunteer will assist with deliveries. Request your tax receipt at the same time.

Because of limited space, donations can only be made on specified dates.

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit, charitable group of volunteers who raise money through the sale of donated items. Proceeds help fund concerts, children’s performers, and special projects at the library.

The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.
