Prep roundup: Dragons bounce back with win over Flashes

Girls volleyball

After suffering their first loss of the season, ending a 21-match winning streak, the New Palestine Dragons volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over visiting Franklin Central Monday.

New Palestine improved to 22-1 with a win by set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-14.

Natalie Sevier had a double-double with a team-high 14 kills to go with 11 digs. Libero Azure Flagle had 16 digs as well as two service aces. Defensive specialist Kyndra Monteith had 13 digs and an ace.

Adding to the attack, outside hitter Josie Corbett totaled 10 kills and added a pair of blocks. Middle hitter Hayden Ramsey had eight kills and seven blocks. Setter Samantha Gooding had 34 assists and three kills.

Defensive specialist Makaeli Johnson contributed seven digs. Right side hitter Elena Cook had two kills and three blocks and Grace Tippit had three kills.

After a Tuesday Hoosier Heritage Conference match against league-leader Yorktown (story on match at greenfieldreporter.com), the Dragons play at the Richmond Invitational Saturday.

Cougars sweep Bearcats

Greenfield-Central’s volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep at Muncie Central Monday.

The Cougars won by set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 25-13.

Greenfield-Central (16-8, 2-4) hosts a Hoosier Heritage Conference match Thursday against Pendleton Heights (14-13, 0-5).

Boys tennis

Royals lose finale

In its final regular season match, Eastern Hancock lost to visiting Pendleton Heights in boys tennis, 3-2.

The Royals begin sectional play today at Mt. Vernon against the Marauders at 4:30 p.m.
