EH to host community meeting

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock schools will host its first community engagement meeting for the 2024-25 school year this Tuesday.

The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Thrive Center of the Community Foundation of Hancock County, 971 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield. The meeting is an event for community members to hear updates about the school corporation and gather input from community partners to continue to improve collaboration and opportunities for students. MV to welcome Realtors to event

FORTVILLE – Realtors and builders in the area are invited to a special breakfast at 9 a.m. Oct. 2 to learn about Mt. Vernon schools.

The event will be at the MVCSC Administrative Service Center, 1806 W. Ind. 234, Fortville. Realtors can enjoy student entertainment, learn about MB’s enrollment and future growth plans, learn how MV schools can help Realtors sell their lots, and tour one of the schools. Weed prevention events coming up

FORTVILLE – Learn about invasive plant species, or volunteer to eradicate plants in upcoming events.

“The Basics of Natives and Invasives” will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Vernon Township office, 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville. The event is hosted by Hancock County CISMA Invasive Species Management. Learn about the importance of native plants and the management of species in the presentation. Learn more by emailing Director Jenni Leary, [email protected].

The group is also seeking volunteers for a weed wrangle. Help remove invasive species in Hancock County at three upcoming events: 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at Brandywine Park (Greenfield); 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 19 at The Gardens of Vernon Township (Fortville); and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Beckenholdt Park (Greenfield). Meet in the parking lot of the park and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Loppers and gloves are provided, or bring your own. Snacks and drinks are also provided. Free financial courses available

GREENFIELD – Registration is open now for the latest series of Faith & Finances.

The free classes offer people a chance to have dinner and childcare available while learning about finances. The courses are offered through Love INC of Greater Hancock County and are 6-7:30 p.m. May 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13 and 20. “Addams Family” on stage this weekend

NEW PALESTINE — “The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy” is coming to the stage this weekend in New Palestine.

New Palestine High School students will perform at the NPHS Auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults.

The school is located at 4485 Victory Drive, New Palestine.
