KNIGHTSTOWN

Verla Reed Trimnell, 86, a lifelong Knightstown resident, passed away September 22, 2024 at Hancock Regional Health. Verla was born in a house in Knightstown on July 4, 1938 to Harold and Edna (Davis) Jordan. She graduated from Knightstown High School in 1956. Upon graduation, she worked as a teller at First National Bank in Knightstown. While working there, she met her husband of 66 years, Ronald Trimnell. They were married on August 30, 1958. She later went on to work at Citizens Bank.

Verla and Ronald had 5 children. She spent most of her life being a stay-at-home farm wife, but also clerked at numerous estate sales with her husband and painted and wallpapered many homes in the area. Verla was a crafty person and enjoyed many hobbies. She especially enjoyed reading, quilting, crosswords, playing Euchre, making homemade candy at Christmas, feeding the hummingbirds and songbirds, and watching soap operas and golf. Most of all, she enjoyed being a wife and Mamaw. Her home was her grandkids’ paradise. Verla was always doing things for her grandkids and great grandkids and supporting them at any event they participated in and was always excited to give them a cooking lesson or share a recipe.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronald Trimnell of Knightstown, 5 children, Darrell (Christina) Trimnell of Indianapolis, Patty Wilson of Lewisville, Pam (Erick) Owens of Dadeville, Alabama, Anita (Dean) Wooldridge of Knightstown, and Dale Trimnell of Knightstown. Those that call her Mamaw include Kayla (Matt) May, Britney (Bart) Fraley, Jacob Back, Jordan (Kimberly) Back, Kurtis (Hannah) Grandison, Kyle (Julie) Wilson, Aaron (Emily) Wilson, and Abagale Trimnell. She is survived by 7 great grandchildren, Tyler, Laramie, Liliana, Melanie, Houston, Audrey, Oliver, and another on the way. She is also survived by a sister of Paoli, Indiana, Faye Craven and several nieces and nephews.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Clarence and Delores Trimnell, and a brother, Charles See.
