Valeeta Alvina (Burnham) Hommel, 87, Greenfield, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Morristown Manor. Valeeta was born on May 4, 1937, in New Palestine, IN, to Roy Leland and Mabel Alvina (Hill) Burnham. She is a graduate of Maxwell High School.

Valeeta was a very caring woman, mother, and grandmother. She worked as an administrative assistant for a nursing home operated by Lisa Slomivitz. In addition to her administrative duties, she was also Mrs. Slomivitz’s nanny for her two small boys, Evan and Chad. Valeeta enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, crocheting, and watching old western movies. But above all, Valeeta cherished her children and grandchildren to the fullest and enjoyed seeing them grow up becoming who they are today.

Valeeta is survived by her loving children, Christy (Mark) Sweet, Judy (Billy) Griffith, and David (Linda) Hommel; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vivian McConnell, Lillian Peacock, Robert Burnham, Alice Shetrone, and Don Burnham.
