Greenfield-Central’s boys tennis team defeated host Yorktown 4-1 Wednesday.

The Cougars wrapped up their conference season with a 4-3 record.

Greenfield-Central swept singles matches in straight sets.

At No. 1, Nathan Roberts won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2, Alex Michalek was victorious 6-2, 6-0. At No. 3, Luke Sitzman won 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles, at No. 1, Nolan Frye and Kasen Jarnecke won 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-0.

At No. 2, Ethan Ortwein and Jacob Welch lost 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Greenfield-Central hosts Warren Central Saturday.

Girls soccer

Cougars shut out Golden Bears

Greenfield-Central’s girls soccer team completed Hoosier Heritage Conference play with a 5-0 victory at Shelbyville Wednesday.

Paige McCarley and Chloe Gardner scored two goals each. Carly Means added a goal. Caroline Felver recorded the shutout in goal.

The Cougars are 4-8 overall and finish HHC play 3-4.

Greenfield-Central plays host to Oldenburg Academy Saturday at 10 a.m.

Girls volleyball

Marauders sweep Tigers

Mt. Vernon’s girls volleyball team defeated Triton Central (13-7) 3-0 Thursday.

The Marauders (14-6) won by set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-14.

Olivia Johnson had 15 kills and three blocks. Alivia Morgan had 13 kills. Sierra Holverson had 11 digs and four service aces. Avery Delello had 12 digs and Ava Whitmore recorded 36 assists.

Mt. Vernon hosts Lawrence North (11-10) Thursday.

Cougars lose to No. 2 Yorktown

In a Hoosier Heritage Conference match at Greenfield-Central the Cougars (12-7, 2-4) dropped a 3-0 decision to Class 4A No. 2 Yorktown (18-2, 6-0) Thursday.

Greenfield-Central lost by set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-9.
