GREENFIELD — After an official visit to Indiana University over the weekend, Greenfield-Central 5-star basketball recruit Braylon Mullins has cut his list of prospective colleges down to three.

Over the summer, the 6-5 guard — who is listed as one of the nation’s top 25 high school seniors on most recruiting websites — cut his large list of college suitors to 10. The initial group was made up of many of college basketball’s ‘Blue Bloods,’ Indiana, Connecticut, North Carolina, Purdue, Michigan, Duke, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Kansas.

Announced by recruiting site On3 Recruits on Tuesday, Mullins has cut that list to three schools, Indiana, Connecticut and North Carolina, with the plan to announce his choice next month.

A top candidate for Indiana Mr. Basketball and McDonald’s All-American, the all-state guard made an official visit to UConn in August and had trips on Sept. 7 to Michigan, Sept. 14 at North Carolina and last weekend in Bloomington. He canceled visits to Duke and Tennessee and has an Oct. 26 visit scheduled with Kentucky.

Last year at Greenfield-Central, he led the Cougars to an undefeated regular season and 24-1 overall record. He averaged 25 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 steals, and shot 56 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

Mullins stock kept rising after a strong summer with his AAU team Indiana Elite and the Cougars.

The Greenfield-Central season is set to begin Nov. 26 with a home game against Beech Grove.

Along with the normal out-of-conference and Hoosier Heritage Conference schedule, the Cougars have been added to the schedule for the 2024 Sneakers for Santa Classic at Brownsburg High School and will play Ben Davis at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 7. For the second straight year, G-C will be in the Forum Tip-Off Classic at Southport High School, taking on Lawrence North on Dec. 14 at 5:15 p.m.

They will also be in the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament at New Castle on Dec. 28, opening with a 12:45 p.m. game against Jeffersonville. Warsaw and Fishers are the other teams in the tournament.
