Free, live music coming to outdoor venues

GREENFIELD – Grab a camping chair and head to an outdoor venue this weekend for a free outdoor concert.

In New Palestine, local oldies tribute group 45 RPM perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 on East Main Street.

The Blues, Beer & BBQ series continues in Cumberland Saturday, but this time with a rock and roll twist. “Rocktember” features Six Figures, Rockin Horse Band and That ‘90s Band from 6-10 p.m. in downtown Cumberland.

Community Worship Night is at Depot Street Park in downtown Greenfield. The event is set for 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at 251 Depot St., Greenfield and is an opportunity for the community from any church or background to join together in music of faith.

Therapy dogs to benefit from show

GREENFIELD – A free, family-friendly comedy show in support of Greenfield-Central’s therapy dogs is coming up this Sunday.

HeeHaws for Paws will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. Dave “The King” Wilson will be featured, along with the G-C ComedySportz High School League.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at gcmusic.ludus.com. Proceeds support the training of therapy dogs.

Libraries to host book clubs, events

GREENFIELD – Book clubs and a concert are coming up for adults at local libraries in Hancock County.

The Craig Brenner Trio performs Oct. 10 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield. The blues, boogie-woogie and jazz pianist Brenner is a composer, teacher and recipient of multiple arts grants.

Literary discussions include a Brown Bag Book Club Oct. 8 on “The Frozen River,” and Writers Helping Writers Oct. 17, both at the HCPL in Greenfield. A genealogy event is Oct. 9 in Greenfield; and Adult Crafternoon Club is Oct. 15. Learn more and register for events at hcplibrary.org.

At the Vernon Township Public Library in Fortville, the Tuesday Morning Club continues for seniors each week. An adult Horror Book Club will be Oct. 16 at Scarlet Lane Brewing Company, 7724 Depot St., McCordsville.
