School foundations benefit from debit cards

GREENFIELD – School Spirit Debit Cards are available at GBC Bank.

Hancock Countys school foundations benefit from the cards, which have the school logo of your choice printed on them: Greenfield-Central, New Palestine, Eastern Hancock or Mt. Vernon. A small donation will be made to the school foundation when the debit card is used, according to the bank’s social media site. Foundation seeks wish granters

GREENFIELD – Local residents can grant a wish of a community teacher.

The Wish Upon a Star program through the Greenfield Central School Foundation allows community members to purchase books, art supplies, technology and more for special projects in the classrooms. Wishes can be granted through gcschoolfoundation.com/wish-upon-a-star.

EH PTO announces Tuttles fundraiser

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization has announced fundraiser nights at Tuttle Orchards.

Tickets must be purchased online for families to enjoy Tuttle’s Farmyard at $9 per person from Sept. 23-26 and Sept. 30-Oct. 3. Of that price, $3 goes back to the PTO. Activities include the corn maze, Tractor Town, wagon ride and more. Visit facebook.com/EasternHancockPTO for details.

Savings fund prize money available

INDIANAPOLIS – September is National College Savings Month, and one individual will be selected to win a $10,000 deposit into an Indiana529 savings fund.

To enter the sweepstakes, individuals 18 and older must complete an entry form by Sept. 30 at MyIndiana529.com/sweepstakes. Indiana529 provides account owners and gift contributors flexibility when it comes to saving for education after high school. Funds can be used at any eligible school or registered apprenticeship program, in- or out-of-state, according to a press release from the Office of the Indiana Treasurer of the State. INDOT engineering scholarships available

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation is seeking applicants for its engineering scholarship program, available for undergraduate and graduate students. Recipients receive financial assistance, as well as opportunities for paid employment during summer breaks and upon graduation.

Students must be accepted or enrolled full-time in one of Indiana’s accredited civil engineering schools. The program must also be certified by Indiana’s Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Eligible universities with ABET-certified civil engineering programs include Purdue University, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Purdue University Northwest, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Trine University, University of Evansville, University of Notre Dame, University of Southern Indiana, Indiana State University and Valparaiso University.

INDOT’s scholarship program offers $3,125 per semester or $2,083 per trimester for up to five years of post-secondary civil engineering education. Scholarship funds may be applied to educational expenses, fees, and books. In return, recipients have the opportunity to work at INDOT in full-time, paid positions during summer breaks and upon graduation.
