GREENFIELD — September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and Hancock County’s local libraries are offering special programs and incentives.

At the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield and New Palestine, for every five items a patron checks out during September, they can enter a drawing for one of two iPads.

The library is also granting fine forgiveness vouchers for up to $5, which can apply to any library fines.

There are roughly 20,300 active card holders through the HCPL. For more information on the HCPL, visit hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.

In Fortville, the Vernon Township Public Library has about 4,700 library card holders. The library has been promoting library cards through local community events, such as the Market in McCordsville Sept. 15, Visit the Ville Sept. 18 and Fortville Farmers Market Sept. 26. This coming Saturday, Sept. 21 the library will host a Roll Out! Transformers Day program to celebrate the month and the America Library Association’s theme of “Transformers.” The event is at 1 p.m. with Bentley’s Buddies and Friends reading dogs on site afterward.
