GREENFIELD – The Daily Reporter is seeking information on community Halloween events to include in a feature article.

Trunk or treat events or fall parties hosted by churches, nonprofit organizations and businesses will be highlighted in a feature for local families. Send information about upcoming events to [email protected].

Volunteer fair coming up Saturday

GREENFIELD – A free volunteer fair is coming up, allowing people a chance to meet local nonprofits and learn about volunteer needs in Hancock County.

The Community Foundation of Hancock County will host the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 21 at 971 W. U.S. 40. The open-house style event will feature opportunities for students, church congregations and anyone looking to give back to connect directly with agencies that provide vital services to the community. Agencies represent animal welfare, food insecurity, arts and culture, senior welfare, substance abuse and treatment and more. For a preview of opportunities, visit HelloHancock.com. Fall break programs available with reading dogs

GREENFIELD – Bentley’s Buddies and Friends will host programs during fall break, using books and reading therapy dogs to help children with literacy.

Sit, Stay, Read Fall Camp is Oct. 7-10. Programs on Oct. 7 and 8 are for children in third grade and up, while programs Oct. 9 and 10 are for those in grades kindergarten through second. Book events, family activities planned at libraries

GREENFIELD – Local libraries are hosting family parties, story times, crafting events and more throughout the month of September.

The Hancock County Public Library Greenfield library is hosting chess club for children and teens on Mondays; story times for babies, toddlers and preschoolers throughout the month; and family yoga on Wednesdays. In New Palestine, the Sugar Creek branch of the HCPL offers family story time and Little Crafters on Wednesdays; a bi-weekly after school hangout for teens Sept. 26; and a teen story making event Sept. 24. The library is at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. Visit hcplibrary.org to register.

The Vernon Township Public Library in Fortville offers Play & Learn Storytime every Wednesday; and Little Learners on Monday mornings, offering early literacy and social skills for toddlers and preschoolers. Children’s art classes available

GREENFIELD – Children’s art programs are available this fall at the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Art Studio.

During fall break, a Children’s Art Mini Camp is Oct. 8-10. Adopt a Squishmallow and make fall-themed art inspired by the stuffy 5:30-7:30 p.m. each evening.
