INDIANAPOLIS — Eastern Hancock’s football team was defeated for the second straight week, losing a 63-33 contest at Heritage Christian Friday.

Ranked No. 8 in Class 2A, the Royals dropped to 2-2 on the season. Heritage Christian, which now owns a 9-0 all-time record against Eastern Hancock, improved to 3-1.

Heritage Christian quarterback Eli Nix had three touchdown runs and four touchdown passes.

After a Nix first-quarter touchdown pass, the Royals tied it, 7-7, on a 16-yard run from running back Evan Wheeler.

Wheeler scored again in the second quarter, but Nix had already threw one and rushed for another HC touchdown. Wheeler’s 3-yard run cut the Eagles lead to 21-13.

A 6-play, 90-yard drive in the final minute of the half got the Royals within nine at the break, 28-19. Junior quarterback Elijah Edon finished off the drive with a 25-yard strike to Garrett Shaw.

Edon and Austin Brown connected on a touchdown pass in the third quarter to cut it to 42-27. A Edon to Luke Manship pass added the 2-point conversion.

Edon had another touchdown run late to make it 49-33, but the Eagles added two more scores.

Eastern Hancock (2-2) returns to action Friday on the road at rival Knightstown.
