GREENFIELD — In August, Hancock County’s residential real estate market saw a level of activity it hasn’t seen in a few months, according to a press release from F.C. Tucker Company. Sales and inventory both increased while prices decreased.

Specifically in Hancock County last month, pended home sales increased 3.3% compared to this time last year. Available inventory increased 35.5% compared to last year. The average home sale price decreased 28.4% to $236,966, compared to August of last year.

The decrease in average home sale price locally is in contrast to what happened across the 16-county central Indiana region. The average home sale price for the region increased 23.3 percent to $360,000. Year-to-date 2024 home sale prices increased 4 percent.
