New Palestine’s volleyball team, ranked No. 5 in the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association (IHSVCA) Class 3A Z-ratings poll, defeated visiting Lutheran Wednesday 3-0 by set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-23.

Natalie Sevier had a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs.

Hayden Ramsey and Caylee Brown added to the attack with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

Libero Azure Flagle totaled 26 digs. Setter Sam Gooding had 36 assists and three aces. Defensive specialist Kyndra Monteith had 12 digs.

New Palestine plays at Triton Central (9-4) tonight.

Girls golf

Marauders have season-low round at Albany

Against Delta and on the course it will play the Hoosier Heritage Conference tournament on Saturday, Mt. Vernon’s girls golf team shot a season-low round of 164 to defeat host Delta’s 202 at Albany Golf Course.

Izzy VanHeel shot an even-par 36 to lead the way. Kylie Hyde finished with a 41. Gigi Avers shot 43 and Natalie Miner finished with a 44.

The Marauders host their Senior Night tonight in a match against Lapel and Yorktown at Arrowhead Golf Course.

Dragons defeat Devils

At The Links Wednesday, New Palestine’s girls golf team defeated the Richmond Red Devils 179-182.

Dragon sophomore Lauren Deering was medalist with a 38. Lily Kirchner shot 39. Katie Kelley finished with a 47 and Elise Weimber had a season-best score of 55.

New Palestine returns to The Links today to take on Shelbyville.

Boys tennis

Dragons blank Bears

New Palestine’s boys tennis team, ranked No. 29 in the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association (IHSTECA) poll, swept all five matches in straight sets and only lost three total games to improve to 10-1 with a victory over visiting Lawrence Central Wednesday.

Singles players won 36 of 38 games. At No. 1, Arjomand Khokhar swept through with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. At No. 2, Joey McPike won 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3, Carson Rush was victorious by a score of 6-0, 6-1.

The No. 1 doubles team of Moses Haynes and Max Havel won 6-0, 6-0 and Andrew Hahn and Jesse Isaacs combined for a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

New Palestine is scheduled to play at Chatard today.

Girls soccer

Cougars fall at Delta

Greenfield-Central’s girls soccer team lost 3-2 at Delta Wednesday.

Carley Means and Chloe Gardner scored G-C’s goals. Claire Davidson and Means had assists.

Delta led 2-1 at the half and both teams added second-half goals.

Greenfield-Central dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Delta improved to 4-2 and 1-1.

The Cougars host Columbus North (6-1-1) Saturday.
