GREENFIELD
Margaret (Carter) Teegarden, age 97, of Greenfield, passed away September 6, 2024 in Greenfield. She was born in Jackson County, Indiana on October 6, 1926 to Roy and Eunice (Mitchner) Carter. She graduated from Clearspring High School, Jackson County, Indiana in 1944.
She worked for Hunt’s Jewelry as Office Manager from 1974 to 1991. She was also co-owner of Teegarden Jewelry in Crown Point, IN from 1950 to 1968. She held an Indiana Real Estate Brokers license for 25 years, selling real estate in Texas for 2 years. Margaret was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church in Indianapolis for 34 years. She was a member of the Business &Professional Women’s Club. She enjoyed calligraphy, painting, crossword &sudoku puzzles, gardening, fishing &walking. In her younger days, she enjoyed sewing and crochet. Margaret volunteered at Community Hospital in Indianapolis and McAllen Hospital in Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan McKinney of Greenfield; sister, Susie Hill of Fishers; 8 grandchildren, Shawn and Shamara Senne, Erin and Grant Teegarden, Shannon Alexander, Scott and Jeremiah McKinney, and Melissa Bardes; 20 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Teegarden; brothers, Dean and Sherman Carter; sister, Marjorie Dunn; and grandson, Brian Senne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
