HANCOCK COUNTY — Late Monday afternoon fire crews from across the county were dispatched to a confirmed structure fire at the 1000 Block of Cardinal Lane near Apple Street. Upon arrival crews found heavy fire blowing from an upstairs window.

Crews were able to make entry and performed an aggressive fire attack while also searching for possible victims. The fire was quickly able to be contained and extinguished. One person was transported by EMS to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Engine 471 was first arriving with fire showing from the front of the home. Engine 471 crews made a quick attack and knocked the fire down while Ladder 421 completed their primary search. Ladder 471 and Sugar Creek Township Fire Department arrived shortly after to help with overhaul and extinguishing hot spots.

Crews from the Greenfield Fire Territory, Buck Creek Township Fire Department, Sugar Creek Township Fire Department, Vernon Township Fire Department, Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Department and Fountaintown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call.

No firefighters or other civilians were reported injured. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
