Phyllis June (Cory) Jessup, 98, of Greenfield passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at home with her daughter in Greenfield. She was born February 25, 1926 in Shelby County, the daughter of Arthur and Leatha Pearl (Brown) Cory. She married John F. Jessup on February 28, 1948 at the Fountaintown Christian Church.

He preceded her in death on December 21, 2009. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Phil (Mary) Jessup of Greenfield, Mike Jessup (Jennifer Hoke) of Fairland, and Pam (PJ) Jessup of Greenfield; grandchildren, Cheri (Jeremy) Azevedo of Maxwell, California, Mitchell (Dara) Jessup of Plainfield, and Morgan (Zach) Jessup of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Hannah Azevedo, Hollie Azevedo, and Hailey Jo Jessup; great great-grandchild Parker Kate Azevedo; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to John, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Forrest, and Dennis Cory; and sisters, Laura Rabe, Shirley Everhart, and Jane Patterson; sisters-in-law Mary Cory, Genevieve Cory, Maxine Cory; and brothers-in-law, Charles Rabe, Harold Everhart, and Jimmie Patterson.

Phyllis graduated from Morristown High School in 1944. She was a member of Charlottesville Friends Church. Phyllis had many different jobs throughout her life, but the two most important were being a partner to John and raising her children. She had a side job as a Stanley Home Products Consultant for over forty-five years. She was a member of Sigma Beta Sorority-Rho Chapter for twenty-nine years.

Phyllis enjoyed working cross word puzzles, helping with sorority projects, reading, sharing recipes with loved ones, traveling, and spending time with family. She loved going on family outings and getting to see her grandchildren the most.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
