The town of McCordsville is preparing to launch a new website within the next month after a year of planning.

McCordsville Town Manager Tim Gropp hopes that the town’s new website, mccordsville.in.gov, will go live sometime in either late September or early October.

“Our website has been out of date for quite some time,” Gropp said. “It’s hard to navigate and it was definitely time for a refresh. We just want it to be clear and simple and to be a clearing house for residents so that they have easy access to information.”

In addition to being easier to navigate, Gropp says that the website will have several new features that the current website does not, including a citizen request form, a job board for the town, a signup for the town’s newsletter and a link to a website where residents can sign up for events, park programs and facility rentals. Eventually, he also hopes to add a section where the town can provide updates to residents on major projects.

Without an actual IT professional, the website took longer than the town anticipated, as its launch has already been delayed by three months after an initial release date in June.

The town’s YouTube channel will continue to host live streams and recordings of government meetings, but there will be a link provided to the corresponding stream on each meeting’s agenda, once again a feature that will simplify the process for residents.

The current website, mccordsville.org, will remain up as an archive for past records including town meeting minutes and agendas and their associated attachments, both for viewing by residents and for easier reference by town staff and elected officials.
