HANCOCK COUNTY – Three gifts are better than one.
Thanks to a Lilly Endowment grant, the Community Foundation of Hancock County is now tripling all contributions made to Community Development Funds through Dec. 31, 2025, or until grant funds are depleted.
Community development funds work by accruing interest each year and awarding that interest in the form of grants on an annual basis, building upon the principal in perpetuity.
The $1.375-million matching grant from the Lilly Endowment will enable the community foundation to award more than an additional $75,000 each year.
Gifts to any named Community Development Fund or the Forever Hancock Community Development Fund will be matched.
Community foundation president Mary Gibble encourages donors to take advantage of the Lilly grant so not a single dollar goes to waste.
Contributing to community development funds ensures that your monetary gifts continue making an impact in the community forever, she said.
The community foundation oversees a number of Community Development Funds impacting arts and culture, education, health and human services and community development.
