MORRISTOWN, INDIANA
Joan Cupp, 92, of Shirley, IN, entered into the arms of Jesus on August 23, 2024, at Morristown Manor, Morristown, IN. Born March 12, 1932, in Shirley, IN, she was the daughter of Herbert and Ferol Fern (Ferrand) Collier, who preceded her in death. She had no siblings.
On June 2, 1950, she married Douglas Cupp, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Swarts, her son Scott Cupp, her son-in-law Tim (Terri) Gilliland, her son-in-law Frank (Cindy) Swarts, and grandson-in-law Steve (Rachel) Jacobs.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Gilliland, her daughter-in-law, Brenda (Scott) Cupp, seven grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated and beloved member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, where she played piano for 36 years. Her faith and love for her Lord Jesus Christ was her foundation, followed by her love for her family as well as her love for teaching and playing music. Joan was self-employed as a music teacher (piano, organ, keyboard) with her business, Joan Cupp Music Studio, for 65 years, and additionally taught seminars to piano teachers with Schaum Publications for 10 years during her teaching career. She continued sharing her gift of music and her love for Christ with the other residents while living at the Morristown Manor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wilkinson Church of Christ, Wilkinson, IN, on Sunday, September 8, at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
