Girls golf roundup: Dragons win NP Invite

New Palestine’s girls golf team won the New Palestine Invitational Saturday at The Links.

The Dragons, honorable mention in the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association poll, shot a round of 345 to win the seven team event.

Leading the way for New Palestine, and finishing third overall, was junior Katie Kelley with a round of 80. Close behind was teammate Lauren Deering, the sophomore placed fourth with an 82. Janie Hamilton had a 91. Matti Tiede-White scored a 93 and Lily Kirchner carded a 96.

The Dragons junior varsity team had a round of 449.

Greenfield-Central was fifth with a 442, 30 strokes better than its initial tournament score at Lapel on Aug. 17.
