GPD investigating threat made to G-CHS

GREENFIELD — Officials with the Greenfield Police Department took to social media Thursday morning to report they were looking into a threat directed at Greenfield-Central High School.

Officials form the GPD posted they had no new information to share this morning, but said they will have extra officers at Greenfield-Central High School today as a precaution due to rumors circulating on social media late Wednesday.

Officials noted, they were aware of a threat circulating on social media in reference to a violent act that is to take place on Thursday at Greenfield-Central High School.

“We are actively investigating the source of this threat to identify the person responsible,” the post said.

Officials then asked those who may know who posted the threat to please contact the Hancock County 911 Center by calling 317-477-4400, or call 911 if they don’t have a phone with service.

Officials reminded people they can remain anonymous and share information by sending information to their tip line by texting 847411 and beginning the message with “GPDTIP”, via the Tip411 app (search Greenfield Police Dept. in your app store) or through the online portal on our website at www.greenfieldin.org.
