Prep roundup: Marauders even record with win at Richmond

Mt. Vernon got goals from Rylan Vinard and Ryan Kroemer, both in the second half, to help lead the Marauders boys soccer team to a 2-1 win at Richmond Tuesday.

The Marauders are 1-1 on the season. Nate Bennett had an assist and goalkeeper Will Keppler had six saves.

Dragons lose late at Mooresville

A goal in the final seconds was the difference Tuesday night as host Mooresville defeated New Palestine’s boys soccer team 5-4.

For the Dragons, Cole Christopher had two goals and an assist. Joey Hicks and Wes Harbert each scored.

Mooresville scored four goals in the second half.

Cougars lose to Batesville

In the home opener Tuesday, Greenfield-Central’s boys soccer team lost 1-0 to Batesville.

The Batesville goal came on a first-half penalty kick.

Dragons suffer first loss

New Palestine’s boys tennis team dropped to 2-1 with a 5-0 loss at Whiteland Tuesday.

The Dragons lost two three-setters. At No. 2 singles, Joey McPike was defeated 6-2, 0-6, 7-5. The No. 1 doubles team of Moses Haynes and Max Havel fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

At No. 1 singles, Arjomand Khokhar lost 6-0, 6-2. No. 3 singles player Brady Torzewski was defeated 6-2, 6-3 and the No. 2 doubles team of Carson Rush and Luke Bartusek lost 6-1, 6-4.

Girls volleyball

Dragons improve to 3-0

New Palestine’s girls volleyball team improved to 3-0 with a 3-0 victory at Greenwood Christian Academy Tuesday.

The Dragons won by set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Middle hitter Hayden Ramsey tallied a team-best 12 kills. Outside hitter Natalie Sevier had 11 kills and six digs and outside hitter Josie Corbett had seven kills. Setter Samantha Gooding recorded 27 assists.

Libero Azure Flagle had 16 digs and two aces. Makaeli Johnson added seven digs.

Girls golf

Marauders win twice

Mt. Vernon’s girls golf team scored a 179 Wednesday to defeat both Delta and Shenandoah.
