Recovery Walk returns Sept. 21

GREENFIELD – The 10th annual Recovery Walk benefiting The Landing Place is coming up in September.

The event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21 at Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield. The walk is to honor those who have lost the battle to addiction; in memory this year is Bre Rogers. The walk is also for those who are still facing addiction, those who live in recovery and families. The event will feature food trucks, resource tables, a bounce house, and dunk tank with Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton. Vendor fair to benefit NPHS choir

NEW PALESTINE – A vendor fair this weekend will benefit the New Palestine High School choir program.

“Autumn is in the Air” will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Sugar Creek Elementary School, 2337 S. 600W., New Palestine. Shop in a gymnasium with more than 45 vendors including several brands, businesses and local artisans. Woodworking, crochet, crafts, blacksmithing, handmade jewelry and more will be on site. A silent auction will also be at the event. Concessions are available, as well as coffee and slushie trucks in front of the building.

Thanksgiving run returning to Greenfield

GREENFIELD – The Turkey Day 5K returns to downtown Greenfield on Thanksgiving Day, and registration is open now.

The event is 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 28 starting off at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East Main St., Greenfield. Cost for the 5K is $30 at an early launch rate, or $20 for one mile. Prices increase after Sept. 5. Participants receive a shirt and medal. Proceeds benefit Hancock Hope House, Greenfield Main street and Greenfield Parks. Animal event to raise money for rescues

GREENFIELD – A summertime party for pets will benefit a local animal rescue group.

P.A.W.S. in the Park is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Riley Park. The fundraiser will assist Partners in Animal Welfare Society of Hancock County.

Bring your furry friend for games, contests and prizes. Cost is $20 per dog and one human, and $3 per extra dog or human for $30 maximum. Dogs must show proof of rabies, Bordetella and distemper vaccines.

DNA program coming to library Wednesday

GREENFIELD – Learn how to get the most out of your DNA test in an upcoming event at the Hancock County Public Library.

Steven Frank of the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group will give a presentation, breaking down all the features of commercial DNA testing and explaining the benefits for genealogists. Topics include ethnicity estimates, sorting through DNA matches, health benefits and privacy concerns.

Dining events to benefit soup kitchen

GREENFIELD – Dine to donate to the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen in events this Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Lincoln Square Pancake House in Greenfield and Fortville will donate a portion of proceeds to the soup kitchen. The Greenfield restaurant is at 118 W. Main St.; the Fortville restaurant is at 901 E. Broadway St.
