Dine earns scholarship to ISU

MCCORDSVILLE — Allie Dine of McCordsville has been awarded a full-tuition President’s Scholarship from Indiana State University.

Dine is a graduate of Heritage Christian School. She is the daughter of Susan and James Dine and plans to major in the field of environmental geoscience with a minor in geology.

ISU awarded the scholarship to 22 incoming students – 18 first-year students and four transfer students, for the 2024-25 academic year. The scholarship provides full, in-state tuition and on-campus housing for a total four-year value of more than $80,000 for first-year students and the value of full, in-state tuition for transfer students.

To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must meet two of the following three criteria: a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale, a score of 1270 SAT or 27 on the ACT, and be ranked in the top 10% of their senior class.

NPHS grads can pick up yearbooks

NEW PALESTINE — The 2023-24 New Palestine High School yearbooks are in. Students in the Class of 2024 who graduated may pick their books up in the NPHS main office during school hours.

All other students’ books were distributed during school.

Those who did not purchase a yearbook but want one may buy it by bringing cash, or a check for $75 made out to NPHS, to Mr. Andrew Smith in the NPHS journalism room (216).

Students may pre-order their 2024-25 yearbooks for the pre-order price of $50 beginning Monday at yearbookordercenter.com (NPHS school code 22769) or by bringing cash or check to the journalism room with your student’s name in the memo line or envelope.

GCSF gala coming up Sept. 28

GREENFIELD – The Red Letter Gala benefiting the Greenfield Central School Foundation is coming up Sept. 28.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. A program at 7:15 will celebrate the foundation, which connects the community to the classroom through educational grants and scholarships. The event is an opportunity to support the foundation’s Wish Upon a Star program to grant wishes of G-C teachers and their classrooms. Hall of Fame inductees this year are William Nigh, Hancock Central High School class of 1967; Andy Arland, Greenfield-Central High School class of 1983; David Spencer, G-CHS 1989; and Claudia Foster Sahm, G-CHS 1994.

The event will be at the Community Life Center, 10612 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Seating is limited; reserve a spot by Sept. 6 at gcschoolfoundation.com/red-letter-gala. Individual tickets are $80; a pair of tickets is $150. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Golf fundraiser set for MVEF

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is planning a golf fundraiser.

Chip In Fore Kids is 5-8 p.m. Sept. 12 at TopGolf in Fishers. The event includes drinks, food and golfing games while raising funds for grants, programs and resources for students and teachers. Sponsorships are available and registration is open. Email [email protected] or visit onecau.se/mvgolf.

Mattress fundraiser to support G-C band

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central High School’s band and guard program will host its ninth annual mattress fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 24.

The Custom Fundraising Solutions event will be in the band room at Greenfield-Central High School, 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield. There will be 30 mattress styles on display for customers to try with name brands. Mattresses are available two to three weeks after the fundraiser; the band and guard program benefits from each purchase.
