Meal packing event welcomes volunteers

FORTVILLE — Meal packing is planned for 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Emerge Church, 211 S. Merrill St. in Fortville.

The meals will be distributed to people in need through International Disaster Emergency Service. IDES has headquarters in Noblesville and responds to needs in the United States and abroad.

Pastor’s 25 years calls for ice cream

GREENFIELD — Otterbein United Methodist Church will have an ice cream social from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 2901 W. CR 200N.

Church members will serve cake and ice cream to celebrate the Rev. David Wise’s 25th anniversary as pastor of the church. Anyone is welcome to join the celebration.

‘Blues’ band to play in Mohawk

MOHAWK — The Music at Mohawk concert series continues from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 17 with The Occasional Blues Band Plus outside Mohawk United Methodist Church, 2045 W. CR 400N, Greenfield.

Besides blues, the group also plays gospel blues, 1960s Motown and some classic rock, jazz and country.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn seating such as blankets or chairs, and may bring food and non-alcoholic drinks. A tip jar will be out for the audience to show appreciation and offset costs.

Concerts take place at the church’s west lawn and shelter house. Parking is available in the south church parking lot, with parking for people with disabilities west of the church.

Restrooms are available, and children can play on the church playground.

Men’s Bible study open to community

GREENFIELD — A men’s Bible study meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday with men of multiple churches attending. The group meets at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St. It is open to anyone in the community.

Restoration Conference coming

GREENFIELD — Restoration Conference is set for Aug. 30-31 at Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1202 E. Fifth St.

Speakers include Jason Gallion, executive vice president of Indiana Bible College, and Stephanie Gallion, director of women’s ministries at Indiana Bible College. They will speak at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30.

Juan Lopez, executive director of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis, will speak at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 31. A breakout session at 2:3o p.m. that day will focus on “Reaching Lost Generations.”

Lawrence Matthews, campus pastor of Calvary Christian School in Indianapolis, will speak in a youth service at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31.

Fountain plans Fall Festival

FOUNTAINTOWN — The Fountain plans a free Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 14.

It will feature a Dan’s Fish Fry meal, ice cream, bingo, Dessert Dash, bumper ball, a Foam Happy party, yard games, bounce house/obstacle course, an air brush artist, a kindness coloring page and raffles. A 3 on 3 basketball tournament is also planned.

Local non-profit Kindness Delivered is partnering with the church on this event.

Between now and the festival, the church is gathering new toy donations for God’s Open Arms Ministry and food for Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen. Both community partners will be respresented at the festival.

Golf outing to aid Love INC

GREENFIELD — Axis Worship Center of New Palestine will sponsor a golf outing Sept. 20 to benefit Love INC.

It will take place at Arrowhead Golf Course, 3974 Clubhouse Drive. Check-in starts at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11.

Cost is $60 per player, which includes 18 holes with cart and a Chick-fil-A meal.

Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Volunteers are needed for the event.

Fortville churches plan Worship Night

FORTVILLE — Fortville Christians Unite plans a community night of worship from 4-8 p.m. Sept. 15 in Landmark Park, 201 E. Staat St.

Food trucks will be on site starting at 4 p.m. A time of praise and worship music, led by musicians from local churches, starts at 5. An after-party with bounce houses and games runs from 6-8 p.m.

FCU is a group of area churches who collaborate in ministry throughout the year, including donating items to and volunteering at Fortville Area Resource Mission (FARM).

Jazz concert coming to Greenfield Christian

GREENFIELD — Jazz for Jesus (and gospel too) is a concert set for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 8 at Greenfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 23 N. East St.

Kenny Phelps of Kenny Phelps Productions and other accomplished musicians will play a free concert in the church’s sanctuary.

Refreshments will follow, along with a showing of artwork from the church’s Faith Formation art workshop, “Nearer to God Through Art.”
