Theater group planning holiday show

GREENFIELD – The Friends of the Theater group is already planning its December fundraiser show and accepting sponsorships.

Christmas at the Ricks will be 7:30 pm. Dec. 7 at H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. The show will feature soloists, small and large ensembles and more after the tree lighting ceremony at Depot Street Park.

Hancock Flat 50 returns Aug. 24

GREENFIELD – The Hancock Flat 50 is coming up Aug. 24 and registration is open now.

The annual event featuring a bicycle ride and festival with music, food and drinks has been happening every August since 2016. Participants have increased from 150 cyclists the inaugural year to more than 750 in 2023. The chip-timed event is for experienced riders or a more leisurely ride with friends; a 25-mile route is also available. Cost is $50; proceeds help support the local trails systems and other biking initiatives throughout Hancock County. Learn more and register at hancockflat50.com.

Master gardeners to host plant sale

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Master Gardener Association will host a fall pant sale in September.

The event features fall annuals, perennials, live demonstrations, and master gardeners on site to answer questions.

The sale is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds 4-H Show Arena, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. For updates, visit hancockmga.com or facebook.com/hancockmga.

Historic courthouse district tour Aug. 19

GREENFIELD – A “Then and Now” evening walking tour is coming up, hosted by Greenfield Historic Landmarks.

Take a tour to compare the Hancock County Courthouse Square Historic District and how it looks now compared to photos of the late 1800s and early 1900s. The event is at 7 p.m. Aug. 19. The tour will be 60 to 90 minutes and will be about a mile in length. Meet at the courthouse plaza gazebo, located on the southwest corner of the courthouse square.
